The Health and Trade Network a.s.b.l was established in 2015, we aim to have members advocating for health wherever trade agreements are negotiated and to force trade agreements to prove their benefit to health before we can support them.
We provide thought leadership, evidence based policy advice and support to our own and member's campaigns through the HaT Think Tank and the HaT Campaigns and Activism.
Health and Trade Think Tank
Our members provide the cornerstone of evidence, debate and policy recommendations for campaigns, policy papers and advice. By conducting research, holding conferences and communicating ideas, the think tank will be the first of its kind, in the EU at least, to focus solely on health and trade.
Many of our members are active in health and trade, the HaT network aims to bring together, consolidate and build on current work to make trade 'healthier' in the right way.
Current Articles by HaT members
Alcohol in Trade Agreements, Dr Don Zeigeler
Trade in Services in TTIP, Meri Koivusalo
The Truth about the Transatlantic and Investment Partnership, Gabriel Siles-Brügge and Ferdi de Ville
Why you Should be Concerned about Access to Medicines in the TTIP, Commons Network, HAI and Public Citizen
Health Trade Campaigns and Activism
Many of the HaT members already organize advocacy activities on trade at national and international levels (EU, US, Asia Pacific, for example) around specific trade agreements such as the TTIP, TPP and RCEP. HaT aims to support its’ members through information sharing, collaboration, fundraising and developing joint actions to achieve the our goals. These campaigns will be rooted in the evidence base provided for by the Health and Trade Think Tank and be designed so as to complement existing member campaigns.
We rely on public donations and grants to carry out our work, if you would like to support us please send a message to: [email protected]
All donations will be treated anonymously, we cannot accept funds from companies who do not operate in the public interest.
